Honest User Review of Hero hunk 150cc after using 20,000km.

 

Hero Hunk was a dream motorcycle to me, Specially after using Hero Honda Hunk for 9 years. Yes I used to own a Hero Honda Hunk. I bought it around the year 2010. After using it for 9 years, in 2019 I sold it and I yet bought the new variant of Hero Hunk 150cc and have been using it since. The new Hunk disappointed me a lot and made me think buying this motorcycle was a mistake.

Let's come to the main review, Before buying Hero Hunk I knew that this motorcycle burns more fuel then it's competitors but I didn't expect the performance drop. It almost feels like I'm driving a 100cc that burn fuel like 200cc motorcycles. Don't get me wrong but Hero Honda Hunk used to burn fuel as much but it performed as much too. Hero Honda Hunk used to run as fast as 132 km/h and used to burn fuel at the rate of 35/liter. whereas Hero Hunk goes as fast as 111km/h to 120km/h(120km/h is highly conditional) and burns fuel at the rate of 35/liter. I travel a lot with motorcycle, by travel I mean city to city not with in one city. I have covered lots of highways and mountains as well but Hero Hunk disappointed me a lot in terms of performance compared to Hero Honda Hunk.

Other than Performance and Fuel efficiency. The motorcycle is highly durable. I have been driving this motorcycle for 1 year and 9 months (20,000km+) and this motorcycle never gave up on me. Engine is refined. There is no vibrations. Never stopped working in the middle of the road whether it's mountains or off road. This motorcycle never gave up.

Initial pickup of this motorcycle is very good. Seats are comfortable. Suitable for tall people.

In short: 

Pros:

1. Initial pickup of this motorcycle is very good.

2. Seats are comfortable.

3. Breaking is very good.

4. No vibration.

5. Easy Handling.

6. Low maintenance.

7. Parts are very durable.

 

Cons:

1. High fuel consumption compared to competitors.

2. Tappet needs adjustment frequently (Every 3000kms or so).

3. Top end performance is very poor, after 106km/h motorcycle gains speed very slowly.

4. Official service center of hero moto corp. In Bangladesh is garbage. They can't fix the motorcycle properly.

5. Spare parts are expensive.

6. Resell value is very bad.

In terms of looks the motorcycle is one of a kind. Sadly Hero Hunk is not for me. That's why I gonna sell it soon and buy a new motorcycle. As I travel a lot. I need a bike that performs. With this motorcycle I can't even keep up with my ride mates. 

So, Who should buy this motorcycle?

This is basically a commuter motorcycle not a performance motorcycle. So, The people who wants a cheap 150cc muscular commuter motorcycle. This motorcycle is perfect for them. I have tasted it's mileage in economy speeds. Mileage test provided a result of 40.94/liter in Dhaka city traffic in economic speeds.
